Up2date

Updated up2date to fix dependency processing bug

Details

There is a bug in the original up2date package (up2date-4.3.19-1.XOS.1) that is included in X/OS Linux 3.0. This bug causes dependencies to be calculated incorrectly.

Symptoms

Some situations require up2date to resolve package dependencies during installation or updating. In this case, up2date will return the message: “unable to resolve dependencies”.

Solution

The package up2date-4.3.19-1.XOS.2 solves this problem. Please update the up2date package itself seperately before using up2date for installing or upgrading other packages.

You can update the up2date software by one of the following methods:

  • Running on the command line (as root):
    /usr/sbin/up2date up2date
  • Running up2date from the menu or launched via the applet and selecting only the up2date package to be upgraded.
  • Downloading the updated package and running on the command line (as root):
    rpm -Fvh up2date-4.3.19-1.XOS.2.i386.rpm

Once up2date has been updated correctly, you can start it again to apply other updates
